How Can Smoking Harm Your Skin

July 21, 2010

The quality of your skin is a directly result of your intake and lifestyle. When we eat, food is broken down to nutrients and these nutrients will be absorbed by the large intestines and transported by the bloodstream to various organs which need those nutrients. The largest organ is the skin. Oxygen is also supplied to the body in the same way. This process happens when we breathe the air. When we inhale smoke from the cigarettes, carbon monoxide along with other toxic chemicals get absorbed into your body and transported around by your blood. Carbon monoxide is a toxic gas which can also found from the car exhausts. The blood is capable of absorbing carbon monoxide 200 times faster than oxygen. Eventually the organs will get polluted and poisoned with all the carbon monoxide. Smoking cigarettes also mean you are also endangering yourself to other chemicals such as hydrogen cyanide, butane, nicotine, carbolic acid, ammonia, collidine, formic aldehyde, lutidine, parvoline, prussic acid, pyridine, arsenic and cadmium and much more other...

Remember Long Lists

April 5, 2010

I want to explain a technique that is used to remember long lists. It is especially useful if you have to remember the list in a particular order. Let s say that you are going shopping and need to remember 5 items. This can be used with 50 items as well. The items are: Pasta Oranges Detergent Bread Butter You will take the items you need to remember and add them to a place you know. Here is what I would do: I would take an area of my house. Let s say, my laundry room. I already know what is in there so I don t need to remember anything about the room. I would then combine each item in my mind with a part of my laundry room. I would picture pasta growing on the door to the room. Then in my mind I open the door to find the Dryer bouncing around because Oranges are going crazy inside. The Boiler sneezes and suds of Detergent come out if it s mouth. Next to the Boiler is the Washing Machine. Bread is rising and the Washing Machine is going to explode. Next to the Washing Machine is the Sink. It is spitting out Butter from the faucet and the...

The gall bladder is a small organ that is situated in the vicinity of the liver. The liver produces bile, a substance that has a very important role in the digestion of fat. The gall bladder stores the bile produced by the liver and expels it inside the small intestine when the substance is required in the digestion of foods containing fat. Many people suffer from gall bladder disease these days. The disease has a high incidence in elderly people and statistics indicate that around 15 percent of people with gall bladder disease have ages over 50. Recall: Not Necessarily A Bad Word

August 24, 2009

Recalls may sound bad at first but they may actually make you safer. They are simply an action by the manufacturer to remedy a safety or emissions-related concern regarding a vehicle defect or regulatory requirement. It may require that you return your vehicle to the dealer for service. If your vehicle is not affected, it may be because it was built at a different time or using a different part than the affected vehicles. A safety recall can be issued on either a whole vehicle or on a piece of equipment within a vehicle, when the manufacturer uncovers a noncompliance with a Federal motor vehicle safety standard. In people-speak, that means when a piece of equipment in a specific line of vehicles shows a defect. In most cases, the remedy is as simple as repairing or replacing the equipment in question. It is usually covered by the vehicle s warranty, or the manufacturer may extend the vehicle s warranty for the recalled part. Naturally, the sooner you have the recalled item replaced or repaired, the less you have to worry about the...

11 Tips To Making The Best Pork Ribs

June 21, 2009

Barbequing can be a risky business. You invite your friends and family over for some home-cooked goodness -- but how do you know your barbecue is going to turn out good. What if it s not as good as the last time you made it. Even for seasoned Barbecue vets, getting your meat consistently good is something that can be more than a little tricky. Well I m here to tell you that it s totally doable, and here are eleven tips that will help: 1. Purchase ribs that are evenly covered in meat. In other words, don t buy a slab that is fatty on one end and fleshy on the other. Avoid slabs that have exposed bones. Allow for one pound of ribs per guest. This is a generous helping but for more impressive appetites, make it two. When preparing the meat, make sure you remove the membrane on the underside of the ribs with a sharp knife. If you don t it blocks the flavor intake. Always marinate your ribs in the refrigerator, not at room temperature. Don t even think about boiling those ribs. Above all else, boiling the meat causes it to lose all its flavor...

Safe Food Storage - Refrigeration

April 19, 2009

Storing Food Your Refrigerator: It is many years since schools stopped teaching cooking and domestic science and the result is that few people in the below 35 age bracket are familiar with risks presented by refrigerators. This article is aimed at covering a few basic rules that will help us store food in a safe and hygienic manner. The average refrigerator operates between 35F 2C and 44F 7C , which is low enough to stop microorganisms from forming. Microorganisms include bacteria and mould. It is NOT cold enough to destroy microorganisms already present in the food; it is up to you to ensure the freshness of food that you buy. The fresher it is the less likely it is contaminated. Therefore you should buy fresh and get it into a fridge as soon as humanly possible. One of the major problems I see with refrigerators is that the door seal isn t sealing properly. This places a heavier than normal load on the motor and causes burnout before the expected life span. Also it stops the refrigerator from maintaining optimum performance. The cost of...
